Privacy Policy

This policy explains what NameChangePacket collects, why, who processes it for us, and the choices you have. We collect as little as possible and we sell nothing.
What we never collect
We never collect your Social Security number, passport number, or document uploads. Our intake form is built so it cannot accept them. You never need to give us sensitive identity documents to use this service.
What we collect
- Your intake answers. The questions you answer to generate your steps — for example your state, whether you're changing your middle name, travel plans, and the names of institutions you want to update (institution names only — no account numbers).
- Identity details for filled forms (only if you buy a packet that fills your federal forms). To complete your SS-5 and passport forms we collect what those forms require: current and new legal name, date of birth, city and state of birth, sex marker, mailing address, phone (optional), email, and whether you're a U.S. citizen. We never collect your Social Security number or passport number — you write those on the form yourself.
- Purchase information. If you buy a packet, our payment processor (Stripe) collects your payment details and email; we store your email and the order record. We never see or store your full card number.
- Usage analytics. Basic, privacy-respecting analytics (pages visited, funnel steps) via PostHog. We run it in a cookieless mode and honor browser Do-Not-Track / Global Privacy Control signals — if your browser sends one, we don't initialize analytics for you.
How we use it
To generate and deliver your personalized packet, process your purchase, provide support, honor refunds, and understand and improve the product. We do not use your information for third-party advertising.
Who processes it for us
- Stripe — payment processing.
- Supabase — secure database storage of your intake and order.
- Resend — sending your confirmation and packet email.
- PostHog — product analytics.
These providers act on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments. We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.
Retention & deletion
We keep your intake and order for as long as needed to deliver your packet and the 12-month refresh window, and to meet legal and accounting obligations. Any identity details you give us for filled forms are encrypted (AES-256-GCM) before storage and deleted when you delete your order. You can ask us to delete your information at any time — email support@namechangepacket.com and we'll delete what we're not legally required to keep.
Your California privacy rights
If you're a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request a copy, to request deletion, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA, and we honor Global Privacy Control signals. To make a request, email support@namechangepacket.com.
